(S,S)-TsDPEN (N-(p-toluenesulfonyl)-1,2-diphenylethylenediamine) is the privileged chiral diamine ligand developed by Noyori and Ikariya. Combined with η⁶-arene-Ru(II) precursors, it forms highly enantioselective catalysts for asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of ketones and imines using isopropanol or formic acid as hydrogen source.
